Delicious, very good quality, some waste. |

Delicious, very good quality. My only issue is that all the pieces I received were of irregular shape so I ended-up with a lot of "waste" (small pieces that I ate, but did not look nice in sashimi/sushi). Hence only 4*.

We purchased six lbs after reading the rave reviews. The salmon arrived overnight in a styrofoam container - inside, the salmon was still frozen with packing peanuts. I would've liked to have seen some sort of gel pack or dry ice to ensure its frozen state.
We defrosted overnight and de-skinned the next morning. The meat was SO FRESH! No fishy smell at all once the skin was taken off. NONE.
Some downsides: de-skinning it wasn't hard, and after the second try, we had the technique down pat. Also, we found a few bones that were still in the fillet (both times that we've eaten it so far).
BUT the salmon was very fresh, very flavorful, and melts in your mouth. Excellent quality.
For me, after moving and being landlocked in central NC, this satisfies my craving for really fresh and yummy sashimi. I will definitely purchase again.
Update: No more skin!!! YAY!

I received my shipment yesterday and was shocked to see that my fish was still completely frozen! I thought surely it would be partially thawed. Great packaging!
The salmon was great. Much better than what I can purchase locally. I did have to cut off a small portion of dark meat and bone, but seriously, this can only be expected.
I'll definitely purchase again.

The salmon fillets are awesome! Very little waste and so easy to prepare! Always fresh and shashimi grade!

I love salmon sashimi, so I was very excited to receive the package from Catalina. I let it defrost in the refrigerator for about 6 hours, then took it out to slice it in half. I did half to remove some dark sections from the bottom fillet, but it was not much. I prefer slicing it when somewhat frozen. I then took the two divided fillets, wrapped them in paper towel and plastic wrap and enjoyed them the next day. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC flavor, and melts in your mouth. Will be ordering a lot more!
