DescriptionOur fresh sashimi grade yellow fin tuna is known as ahi (ah-hee). It has a tender and mild flavor which is great for searing or making sushi. Yellow fin sashimi is also known as maguro. Yellow fin tuna has a lower fat content than blue fin, which gives it a milder taste. Our wild tuna is caught in boats by long line. We carry yellow fin tuna year round, but sometimes it will be unavailable due to weather and supply conditions.
Yellow fin tuna (Thunnus albacares) are found all over the world, usually in deeper waters offshore. They can get as long as six feet and as much as 300 pounds but these small tuna weigh in at 14 to 20 pounds and produce a loin that is 1.4 to 1.6 pounds.
Our fresh and live seafood products are as fresh as you can get because we purchase directly from reputable fishermen in California and Baja California who take great pride in providing the highest quality seafood. The seafood is caught and immediately iced or brought to our live tanks until you order. We package it with care, keep it cold in insulated boxes and ship it overnight with FedEx so that it reaches your door fresher than the vast majority of most supermarkets and restaurants.
Tuna comes SKIN ON. We remove most of the bloodline, but some bloodline is still present.
