There was so much waste with this fish that I can't help but feel ripped off. Though I have been delighted with most of my purchases at Catalina OP, this one fell way short. The instructions were very thorough and I followed them to a t. However, after cutting off the thick skin and sinew, I found bone, yes bone in a belly cut, that also needed to be cut out, hence reducing the edible portion by a significant amount. What was left was delicious even if it was mangled from selectively paring off the fish from the bone. Was thoroughly disappointed by this overpriced item...it had great potential.

I was very dissapointed with the piece of frozen toro that I got. The skin was still attached, which when you remove it takes almost half of the weight. Then the piece I got had a lot of sinew and a piece of the fin. Again Cleaning that up I ended up with a piece of toro that weighted about 0.3 lbs for $44.00! Never again will I order frozen. I have tried their fresh toro and it was pretty good, bad luck that they were out of stock when I ordered.

Really loved this cut. Followed thawing directions very closely. Buttery and delicious, very well received by dinner guests. Did not have issues with sinew like other users. Will buy again!

Worth the money? |

I have to agree with the second reviewer about it containing too much fiber. Although quite butterly, it's not "melt-in-the-mouth" kind of toro. It's not the easiest fish to prepare, either (with skin and other wastes). While it tastes very good, I am not sure if it's worth the money, particularly when we have so many better choices from C.O.P.

The Toro I received was very buttery, and tender. My family are quite experienced sushi consumers and this product was well received. I only wish I could get it fresh, then I'd consider 5 star rating
