The taste and texture are great, of course, but what really surprised me was how much I got with this order. I wasn't exactly sure how much volume was in one kilogram of ikura, but it came in a rectangular container that was (roughly) 8"x5"x2". I can't remember exactly what dimensions it was because as soon as it thawed I partitioned the whole order into several smaller containers and refroze them. It still tasted excellent after being refrozen, and it's lasted me for several weeks already.

I love ikura and I sample it at every Japanese restaurant I go to. After a number of disappointing experiences I decided to try ordering it off the internet -tried a few places, too, before luckily stumbling across Catalina Offshore Products. Now I don't even bother with the ikura in restaurants anymore or anywhere else. Catalina's is- hands down- the best ikura I've had.

In any sushi resturaunt I visit I order the Ikura first, it lets me know how good the rest of the meal will be. I have to say this rivals any resturaunt I have visited. Incredible texture and taste. Fantastic.

I am a IKURA freak but Catalina's IKURA is one of the BEST IKURA you can get. Not many Authentic Japanese Restauarnts carry this quality either.
I've bought at least 5 KG in the past year or so. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from an Authentic JAPANESE!

delicious ikura with traditional ingredients |

This is some of the best tasting ikura I have had. Extremely fresh tasting even though it arrives frozen. Additional ingredients include sake, soy sauce and salt. These are traditional additives. This roe has a great flavor, not too salty. Delicious in sushi or as an appetizer. My nine year old eats it with a spoon straight out of the fridge.
