Description

Our sashimi jumbo scallops are the largest and freshest that you can find anywhere. In sushi bars, scallop served as sashimi is known as hototegai. There are less than 6 of these jumbo scallops per pound.
The prized giant deepwater scallop, Mano de Leon (Nodipecten subnodosus), is aptly named by Mexican divers who are reminded of a lion’s paw by its size and golden orange coloration. They are picked by divers in pristine lagoons nourished by the Pacific Ocean. Our scallops are completely free of chemicals, water, or other additives. The natural meat color ranges from off-white to yellow-orange. Excellent on the grill or seared in a sauté pan, these firm, meaty scallops are creamy rich in flavor and an ideal compliment to any surf and turf plate or can be the featured course. With limited seasonal openings and developing farming techniques, the Mano de Leon scallop is a well managed sustainable resource with strictly enforced harvesting procedures. Our scallops are called “dry pack diver scallops” because we don't add water or chemicals to increase the water content. Scallops may have been previously frozen.

Our fresh and live seafood products are as fresh as you can get because we purchase directly from reputable fishermen in California and Baja California who take great pride in providing the highest quality seafood. The seafood is caught and immediately iced or brought to our live tanks until you order. We package it with care, keep it cold in insulated boxes and ship it overnight with FedEx so that it reaches your door fresher than the vast majority of most supermarkets and restaurants.

Excellent Scallops February 2, 2009
Reviewer: Mark  Nagan from Homewood, IL United States
Huge, great flavor and texture. I  had to create 2 nigiris from each scallop, they were that big. And I like a big nigiri. Add in the excellent flavor and texture and these are among if not the best scallops I have ever had.

Amazing June 9, 2008
Reviewer: Scott from San Diego, CA
I served these sashimi style at a party and these blew people away. Eventually, people that don't like sushi were eating them raw.
Easily the best scallops I've had.

The picture does not do justice. April 10, 2008
Reviewer: Michael from New York, NY United States
These are huge scallops, about the size of a small fist.  I just got finished replicating one of my favorite dishes which consists of layering thin slices of scallop with pieces of uni and I must say it tasted better than my favorite restaurant's dish.  Very fresh, very flavorful and humungous.
