I'm actually sad that Catalina will be on Bizarre Foods next week because I want to keep this company a secret from the general public.   Sweet, plump, and beautiful pieces of Uni.  I will be a customer for a long time to come.

I think I received California Premium, and not California Gold.  It doesn't look all that fresh, but it tasted alright.  I think I'll go for the Premium next time...

Uni was shipped yesterday and arrived at 12:30 today....Great work Catalina. This Uni is fresher than my local sushi bar has. The taste is just exquisite. Was going to use for nigiri...Too late. All gone.

Fresh but not Gold January 16, 2012

Ordered this along with the live black urchins and some other items. Compared to the live ones it couldn't compare but on it's own it was still very fresh. However, the texture seemed more like Premium grade than gold. It was mushy and runny and all pushed to the side of the box. Taste wise it was great, texture wise, not very good.  Customer service was excellent though. Wrote to Catalina to explain that it seemed more like Premium than Gold and asked to be refunded the difference and I was. Hopefully they were just having an off day with the Gold.

my 2nd time ordering from catalina and wow is this uni perfect...im a chef on cape cod mass and i cant even get fish this nice...so far we've tried the Mt cook salmon, fresh ahi, diver scallops, uni and unagi (im a sucker for eel) and everything has more than lived up to catalina's claims. Thanks guys!! keep up the good work!

I have eaten uni in Hk, Japan, Canada, and many other cities, but the uni here has a strong baking soda after taste to it, and I don't know if it is the water or something wrong with my uni. It's fresh though.

Ordered 2 trays and I had a similar situation like one of the reviewers. One tray was perfect and solid, the other tray was mushy and a little runny. Don't know if it's a coincidence, but if it is just be aware of this next time. Taste was still fresh and sweet though.

They shipped it to me in no time. It arrived in perfect condition and it didnt last more than an hour in my house.  Took 2 boxes down like it was nothing.  Think I need UA.  Catalina does a great job. Can't wait to try some of my other favorites.

Ordered this in the past and was VERY pleased.  However, this time one of the trays was perfect, nice solid flavorful pieces but the second tray was unusable mush.  very disappointing.
