Our fresh wild rockfish sashimi fillets are frequently used to make the highest quality sushi in sushi bars. We sell fresh skinless rockfish fillets caught off the coast of San Diego, California. Rockfish, including rockfish blackgill, are recognized by the bright pink and red hues of their skin. Rockfish are caught year round, but more commonly during summer near the Pacific Coast. They are caught primarily with hook and line, and their average weight is 3 to 5 lbs. The average size of their fillets are approximately 1 pound. Wild blackgill rockfish sashimi has a high fat content that makes it a perfect fish for raw consumption.
